My “why” is based on the desire to help those who have served and given so much to our country, find help, healing, and hope that their quality of life can improve. My previous experience may seem to be on the opposite end of the spectrum in relation to trauma. In the past, I worked with women who were victims of domestic violence. However, the similarities are striking to me. Both populations found themselves in situations where they witnessed or were victims of violence and human devastation. In many cases, such as the warriors and first responders served at Warriors Heart, substance abuse was used as a strategy to avoid the crushing pain their lives were filled with daily.
I am so impressed with the holistic treatment plan in place at Warriors Heart. It is refreshing to be a part of an organization that recognizes the significance of treating the whole person. I am honored to walk alongside the warriors here.
