Having walked along side an active duty military service member, Jennifer lived in the culture. She also served as a Family Readiness Group (FRG) leader stateside, and worked as a Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate during an accompanied tour overseas. She’s watched firsthand what happens when service, substance use, and trauma collide. She’s also witnessed the effects it has on the individuals and on families. Knowing what they give or have given to serve, Jennifer believes our military and first responders deserve the best care possible, and she shows up every day to provide that at Warriors Heart. As a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor for more than a decade, Jennifer is a realist. She’s a listener. She walks the talk. Jennifer calls it how she sees it without judgement. She believes every person has the capacity to achieve their version of success. Jennifer believes there’s more than one way to solve a problem. She accepts that life happens. Let’s figure out how to deal with it in healthy ways. Her super-power is seeing the light despite all the darkness.
My Why:
“You can’t understand someone until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.” While I may not be able to walk that mile in their shoes…and let’s be honest—having walked along side a service member for ten years, I know I don’t actually want to…. What I can and absolutely will do though is meet them where they are today and walk with them on their path to recovery.
