My Why: Katrina Thomas

Katrina Thomas
LPN

Katrina became an LPN in 2022 but that’s not where her experience caring for people started, it began about 20 years prior as a medical assistant. She also worked for 12 years as an EMT-B as both a volunteer and paid provider. Her clinical experience includes Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine and most recently Addiction Medicine. She completed her nursing education through Rappahannock Community College, attending nursing school during the Covid pandemic presented its own challenges but she pushed through and got it done. Katrina is a wife of 12 years and mother to 2 sons. Both of her sons are currently serving in the military. They are a house divided, one son joined the Army and the other son joined the Navy. Katrina is also a dog mom to 2 pups, Sadie and Sawyer. They are “Chugs”, part chihuahua and part pug and completely spoiled rotten. When Katrina is not working she enjoys baking, reading and crocheting.

My Why:

Because both of my sons are active duty military, I have been keeping my eyes open for an opportunity “to serve” as well. With my background in Addiction Medicine and the pride I have in my sons I feel Warriors Heart is the perfect way for me to give back. Having been an EMT, I may have similar experiences that our clients may have and being able to share those unique experiences allows me to connect to them as well.
