My Why: Mary Liano

Mary Liano
Nurse

Mary is a Qualified Mental Health Professional and Registered Nurse who expertly bridges the gap between behavioral science and acute clinical care. Beginning her career in psychology and ABA therapy as a rehab specialist, she evolved into psychiatric nursing to master high-acuity assessment, psychopharmacology, and trauma-informed de-escalation. By combining her behavioral science roots with advanced clinical expertise, she offers a holistic approach to mental health that prioritizes patient dignity and functional recovery. Dedicated to a low-restraint, evidence-based model, Mary leverages her extensive inpatient experience to stabilize complex cases within the community, serving as a dedicated advocate for her clients’ long-term wellness and autonomy.

My Why:

My “Why” is rooted in the belief that mental health care is not just about stabilizing a crisis, but about honoring the human being behind the diagnosis. My journey began in psychology and ABA because I was fascinated by the “why” of human behavior and the power of functional change. However, as I grew in my career, I realized that true advocacy required a broader clinical lens. I became a Registered Nurse to bridge the gap between behavioral science and medical necessity, ensuring my clients had a voice that was both clinically informed and deeply compassionate.

Today, my mission is to use my unique evolution—from behavior specialist to acute care nurse—to foster recovery-oriented environments where dignity is the priority and restraint is the absolute last resort. I do this work because I believe every individual deserves a practitioner who sees their potential for long-term stability rather than just their immediate symptoms. My “Why” is to provide the consistent, evidence-based advocacy that empowers clients to move from crisis back into the community with their autonomy intact.
