After teaching in the public education system for 12 years, I realized I was being pulled in a different direction so I chose to go back to school where I received a Master’s in Counseling and License as an LPC. These past few years have been a challenge, but so rewarding. I gave school counseling a go and then I realized that community counseling was where I wanted to devote my time; since, I have worked with numerous clients who I have helped through life’s challenges. As a therapist I am trained in EMDR which can heal the client from the hold of PTSD, addiction, anxiety, physical illness and pain by setting up targets and using eye movement. I also use CBT therapy which focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors, while improving emotional regulation and developing personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. There is power in the counseling process to work through even the most difficult life challenges, and I always consider it an honor when I can be a part of the journey.
