My Why: Gary Watkins

Gary is a LCDC and graduate student at Texas A and M, San Antonio. Gary earned AAS in Human Services/ Addiction Counseling; AA in Social Work from San Antonio College; BAAS degree with a concentration in criminology. Currently, as a graduate student, Gary is on track to earn his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health in the summer of 2023. Gary served in the U.S. Army as Infantry man/ cavalry and moved up the ranks as NCO at the time of discharge. Started career in counseling with the Texas Youth Commission for adjudicated youth. Worked private sector and co-owned business that counseled clients leaving prison, homeless and disabled. Gary has always been passionate about helping military personnel and when the opportunity to work at Warriors Heart came, Gary answered the call. He is passionate about helping other warriors with their presenting problems and improving their quality of life.

My Why:

As a former serviceman, I have always been passionate about helping others. I have learned, through struggles of my own, that those struggles had a purpose. I am honored to be a part of the mission called “Warriors Healing Warriors”
