My Why: Kaylee Wallace

Kaylee Wallace
RN

Kaylee is a Virginia native, who was born and raised in VA all her life. Throughout her life, she loved art and was known as the “artist.” She had even decided she was attending (and had been accepted) into VCU Arts her senior year of high school. But she felt a calling for something more during this time. Kaylee has always wanted to help make a difference in the lives of others, and found that she could do this through nursing. So, she obtained her nursing degree and license.

She began her nursing career at VCU on the Neurosurgery Trauma unit as a new grad, where she gained a variety of skills and experiences. She then worked at Mary Washington Healthcare, where she also worked with Lori and April. More experiences were gained while working with patients regarding behavioral health and detox. Prior to joining Warriors Heart, she also was a medical case manager through workers’ compensation. In this role, she got to work more closely with claimants who were classified as warrior-status.

When she is not working, she enjoys participating in art, going to concerts, reading, dancing, spending time with her pets and loved ones, and trying new things. Kaylee would like to travel the world, and is planning to go to Italy/Greece in the future

My Why:

Having two grandfathers and an uncle who served, I know how important it is to ensure that our Warriors have the same care returned to them. It is important that they are not forgotten about, especially when they have returned home. I have seen first-hand the daily struggles and impacts that Warriors face, long after their time provided. I believe it is important that they are reminded they are not alone and that their service has not gone unnoticed. My why is that we can come together and provide the care and support necessary for all Warriors who come home, so that we can serve those who served us.
