My Why

My Why: Russ Adams

I witnessed the horror and tragedy of war first hand. I saw the effects and heavy burdens that it placed on my fellow brother and sisters in arms, as well their loved ones.

After completing my military service in July of 2004, and after a deployment to IRAQ, I returned to my home in South East Idaho thinking my military service had come to and end and that my call to serve my country was complete. In June of 2014, I realized that the battle was not over, in fact it was just beginning after the loss of a close friend to suicide. Soon, I would learn that more and more of my brothers and sisters were struggling.

More and more frequently I would hear about the struggle and battle on the home front, that my brothers and sisters in arms were struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, and that so many were loosing their lives daily to this disease. I would learn that this battle wasn’t just something that our military veterans were dealing with, but it was a common struggle that even our law enforcement, fire fighters, EMT and other warriors faced.

In 2015 after learning about Warriors Heart, I decided I would do whatever it would take to re-enlist and join the battle on the front lines. I am no longer willing to stay silent, I am no longer willing to watch and sit on the sidelines and watch my brothers and sisters lose this battle on the home front. I am committed to doing everything in my power to serve these fine men and women, and their families once again. I am honored to fight shoulder to shoulder with some of the most amazing professionals in the industry here at Warriors Heart.
