My Why: Kevin Jones

Kevin Jones
LPC

Kevin is the son of a soldier in the British Army. Routine and a sense of duty were what kept my family together. His early life was spent in the UK, Germany, and the Far East.
After many careers including Hotel Management, waiting on table, cooking, and being a librarian Kevin immigrated to the United States and married a Texas girl.
After going through treatment Kevin found his vocation in counseling both as a general counselor and as a Chemical Dependency Counselor. Kevin lives with his retired partner in Kerrville where they both look after lots of stray cats.
Kevin enjoys really old and low-budget science fiction movies and listening to podcasts on spiritual themes.

My Why:

There are two main reasons why I enjoy working at Warrior’s Heart. Firstly, it is that the warriors we get to treat are both extremely brave and very competent. Just to come to work and watch the clients approach the task of mental health with diligence and courage is healing all by itself. To see this in action is comforting and inspiring.
The second reason is more about the work itself. I am in recovery and know that three things need to be addressed if recovery from trauma and addiction is to be successful. Mind, Body and Spirit must all be attended to. Warrior’s Heart addresses all three of these with knowledge, integrity and a great deal of professionalism. It combines the treatment of physical, psychological and spiritual/moral trauma at the same time. Sometimes so seamlessly that it appears too ‘just natural’. I love working here because the treatment center treats the whole person not just one part. I know that this is good because it works.
For me, it is an honor to come to work.
