Kristina De La Fuente was born in Stuttgart, Germany to US Army Sergeant First Class Roger Blair Scharmen (deceased) and Gabriella Ruth Muller (deceased), a German native. The life of a “Military Brat” took her on many adventures, both locally and internationally.  Kristina and her family settled in Bandera after the death of her Mother to cancer in 1989,  and her father’s marriage to Pam Scharmen, some years later. She has been a local of Bandera for thirty years , a 1994 Graduate of Bandera High School, and raised her three children here.

Kristina was a stay-at-home mom for twelve years, then went on to pursue a career in Accounting and Bookkeeping, working at the local Electric Coop, and eventually moved on to their PR and Marketing Team, as A Community Relations Specialist. After some time of not feeling fulfilled, she moved into the Healthcare field, working with the Elderly and those dealing with Parkinson’s and Dementia. She spent years working in Nursing Homes, Private Care and Hospice Care setting.

Kristina is a recent empty nester, enjoying a job she is passionate about , enjoys spending her free time with her three young adult children, and embracing the joys of being a Mee-Maw to three grandchildren.

My Why:

The “military life” has always been home to me. Even though being a “civilian” myself, the honor and code of a Warrior was engrained in me from a young age. I was blessed to have a high standard set for me by my father and hero , US Army Sergeant First Class Roger Blair Scharmen, a Vietnam Veteran, who passed on June 29, 2021, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. It was his battle and passing that led me to Warriors Heart. He was a man of integrity, passion, and True Heart. The kind of Man, who showed all empathy and sympathy, and taught me to do the same. He never met a stranger and embraced everyone as a friend and family. Despite his own daily struggles and battles, till his dying day, his mission was to make all feel “at Home” with his huge heart, daily smiles, love, and words of encouragement.  Warriors Heart was a mission he truly believed in and supported, and I wanted to be part of that, to honor him and keep his legacy alive, by doing the same. I, myself have struggled with PTSD, anxiety, and depression for many years. But I am a strong believer of hope and healing and hope to share that message with all.  It is my Honor and privilege to serve here at Warriors Heart alongside others, just as passionate about The Mission as I am.
