My Why

My Why: Zach Poteat

Zack Poteat
Operations Director

Born in Germany, Zachary made it to Texas as quickly as possible! His Father Rob Poteat got stationed in DelRio, TX on Laughlin AFB. There Zachary grew up on true Mexican culture food and noticed how the food always brought everyone together! Zachary went from the border of Texas to the Hill Country, where Schreiner University was home to him while he worked on his B.A Sports Management/ B.S Kinesiology. After growing up a bit Zachary found himself in Boerne, TX. There he would meet the love of his life!

Ashley & Zachary met in a local Restaurant where they both worked. Zachary & Ashley then moved up to Austin and the Culinary world began. He got the real taste of the streets in Austin working for a couple top Food Trucks. After that he spent his time in a butcher shop, starting with deliveries then learning all his cuts and processing deer. Continuing, he dabbled a bit in the Corporate cooking world with Whole Foods Market & Central Market. Furthermore, Zachary found a couple well named Chefs in established restaurants to work under and learn from to increase his skills as a Chef.

Zachary found himself back in San Antonio, TX after Ashley started Nursing school. Zachary ended up finding a job back in the Hill Country! He was named Executive Chef and shortly after was asked to fill the General Manager role. During his time here, Zachary made many new friends and started focusing on his dreams and goals.
He recently got Married to Ashley in May of 2018 and they are happily living in Boerne, TX.

My Why:

I am blessed to get the opportunity to work here at Warriors Heart! I come from a Military family on both sides. My father, (SSG. Rob Poteat) Served 21 years in the USAF. Some of my life I grew up around the bases and got to see the day to day life of our Military forces. I myself never severed, but many friends of mine from my hometown of Del Rio, TX! I have always had a passion for cooking and got really good at it. This opportunity is a chance for me to put all the Culinary skills that I have learned over the years to give back to those who need it most! Cooking is one thing that I can execute very well, and I considered this job to be a GREAT HONOR in my life, just the chance to give back to those who gave it all!
