Alyssa Rothman
RN
Alyssa is a Registered Nurse that was born and raised in a small town in Southern Maryland, who made the move to Virginia in 2015. She double majored in Exercise Science and Psychology at Shenandoah University, where she graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in both fields. The following year, she accelerated her path into nursing, completing her BSN at the end of 2020.
Alyssa began her nursing career at the bedside in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), providing critical care to the most vulnerable and tiniest patients. She then transitioned into a leadership role, managing the Infection Prevention and Control programs across two hospitals, where she ensured the safety and well-being of patients and staff alike.
When not at work, Alyssa enjoys spending her free time on outdoor adventures with her husband, video calling her four sisters, or snuggled up with a good book, often accompanied by her two dogs and two cats. As a lover of Halloween, she hosts an annual costume-mandatory party that has become a tradition for friends and family!
My Why:
My favorite person in the world is my husband, who proudly serves his community as a law enforcement officer. As a LEO wife and sister, I am acutely aware of the trauma they face daily while juggling the stigma around mental health. When I first learned about Warriors Heart and its mission, I was deeply moved by their vision to heal first responders and military personnel, who are an underserved community.
My heart holds a special place for the military, too, as many of my loved ones have served, retired, or are currently serving including my grandfather and my best friend of 15 years. Although I’m not a first responder or veteran myself, Warriors Heart’s mission resonates with me. I continue to work on my own healing and also act as a support system for a loved one fighting their addiction. As a nurse, I believe it’s my duty to provide a compassionate and healing environment so I look forward to welcoming many Warriors home!
