Sarah Otto is a retired Navy spouse, passionate advocate, social butterfly, and proud Missouri girl living in a Virginia world. A believer in the power of positive thinking, she has spent more than two decades supporting military service members, veterans, first responders, and their families.
She served as the Ombudsman for USS The Sullivans (DDG-68), was a Navy Family Ombudsman Certified Trainer, and was honored as the 2017 and 2018 NSF Dahlgren Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year.
Today, Sarah is the Clinical Assistant at Warriors Heart Virginia and is honored to be part of the founding team as a WHVA plankowner. Every day, she has the privilege of supporting Warriors as they take courageous steps toward healing and recovery.
Sarah and her high school sweetheart, Jay, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, have called Virginia home since 2011. Together, they’re the proud parents of three adult children, grandparents to one amazing granddaughter, and the happy owners of two dogs and two goats. Life is rarely boring, and Sarah wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’ve always had a servant’s heart, especially for the men and women who protect and serve our nation. During more than two decades as a military spouse, I witnessed the sacrifices, struggles, and silent battles that so many service members and their families face.
That’s my why.
Our Warriors deserve to know they are never alone. Warriors Heart is more than a place or a program, it’s a home where they can feel safe, supported, understood, and empowered to heal. Being even a small part of that journey is something I will never take for granted. It is truly priceless.
