Paula Tisdale
Dual Clinician
Paula was born and raised in a small country town called Trio, South Carolina to beautiful parents that were the best fit for what God wanted for her life. Paula comes from a close-knit family, and she takes pride in being the mother of two daughters and one son-in-law that she shares a close relationship with. Paula served 24 years in The United States and retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer. During her military career she served on USS L.Y. Spear (AS-36), USS Frank Cable (AS-40), USS Seattle (AOE-3), and USS Gunston Hall (LSD-40). Shore duty assignments were in Norfolk, VA; Charleston S.C., and Rota Spain. After retiring from the Navy, Paula worked at a Vet Center and Fly Family Therapy and Neurotherapy in Newport News, Virginia. Paula likes mentoring, canning, sewing, cooking, and camping with her family.
My Why:
Paula’s military experience deeply impacted her. She vividly recalls moments like the Captain’s Call in 2003, where she felt a maternal concern for young Marines headed to Iraq. Witnessing their transformation after deployments fueled her dedication to counseling. This calling led her to work at a Vet Center for 15 years, aiding veterans and trauma survivors. After retiring, Paula sought a new path and found purpose in the mission of Warriors Heart Virginia, aligning with her daughters’ belief that it was a divine assignment for her.
The first trip to Warriors Heart Virginia was like a scene out of Fields of Dream with the overarching theme, “if you build it, they will come” and on Warris Heart Virginia grounds I feel the energy of that and those who are rooting for our Warriors to include our fallen Heroes.
I can sum My Why up with something my daughters said: “God put Warriors Heart here for my mom” and I believe this is God’s assignment for this stage in my life.
