Heather Hinchman
Nursing Director
Heather has been a nurse for almost 20 years. She has a background in OB, school nursing, clinical education, leadership, and has spent the past five years in behavioral health with a focus on substance use. She was born in Maryland and has lived in Virginia since 2006, but also lived in Okinawa, Japan on Kadena Airbase as a teenager. She grew up in a military household, which has contributed to her development of core values and a love for travel. She has a wonderful husband, Tyler, and three amazing children- Mackenzie, Caitlin, and Madelyn (Madi). Heather also lives with her 3 dogs and 2 cats, as she is an animal lover. Heather loves to spend time outdoors, making crafts, and completing DIY projects at home. In her free time, she enjoys time with the family, camping, and spending time by the water or fire.
My Why:
My why for working at Warriors Heart is to support and care for the brave men and women who have sacrificed themselves for the benefits of others. I come from a military family and have always embraced the military life. My grandfather was in the Army, stepfather was in the Navy (EOD), and uncles in Navy/Marines (EOD). I originally had plans to go into the Army as a commissioned officer myself, but life had different plans for me. Instead, I have developed a passion to help those who have served others and I am dedicated to use my nursing career to support this mission. These men and women are often the last to ask for help, so to be a small part in helping them face some of their internal challenges is an honor. I have worked with many who have overcome these obstacles, and have witnessed how rewarding it can be to give someone’s life back. I am committed to breaking the stigma around mental health and to promote holistic health amongst our warriors!
