Wendy Rivera
Doctor of Nursing Practice
Dr. Rivera is a Houston, Texas native with more than 23 years of experience serving patients across high-acuity and specialty healthcare settings. She earned her BSN from Baylor University and began her career in a Level 1 Trauma ICU, pursuing the highest level of challenge and growth from the very start. She went on to complete her Master’s as an Adult–Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and her Doctorate at Chamberlain University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Golden Key and is also a trained Legal Nurse Consultant.
Throughout her career, Dr. Rivera has worked in Critical Care, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Oncology, Dermatology, Telemedicine, and various other specialties, as well as in healthcare operations. These diverse experiences have shaped her whole-person, root-cause approach to care. She believes the human body — and the human experience — are deeply interconnected, and that compassion and curiosity are essential to true healing.
My Why:
Dr. Rivera joined Warriors Heart because she believes warriors, veterans, and first responders deserve care that truly honors their service, sacrifice, and humanity. Warriors deserve a place that understands their strength, their resilience, and the invisible wounds that often go unseen. She brings not only medical expertise but also steadiness, kindness, and genuine compassion to every individual she serves.
Dr. Rivera’s goal is to help each warrior feel seen, supported, and empowered throughout their healing journey — to care for those who carry heavy burdens so they do not have to walk their journey alone. Her commitment is to offer a healing presence rooted in respect, empathy, and unwavering support, so each individual feels safe enough to heal and confident enough to move forward.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Rivera can often be found kayaking, hiking, or exploring the outdoors with her two Chihuahua-mix adventure dogs, Louie and Luna. Time in nature grounds her — and she brings that same calm, focused presence to the patients she serves.
